Today I'm going to tell you about my experience comparing two apps to find out which one is better for watching MLB, MLB App vs. HomeRun Live.
If you've ever looked for apps that offer league broadcasts and coverage, you've probably come across several options.
I tested two that promise to cover everything about Major League Baseball: the MLB App and HomeRun Live.
Both claim to be complete, but do they deliver what they promise? Which one is really worth it? Let's compare!
Here we go, MLB App vs. HomeRun Live.
First Impressions and Interface
As soon as I downloaded the apps, I noticed significant differences between them.
O MLB App It has a sophisticated, dark look and intuitive navigation. Everything is well organized: statistics, news, live games and, of course, the broadcasts.
O HomeRun Live, on the other hand, has a more simplified design, focused exclusively on baseball.
The interface is user-friendly, but some functions are a bit hidden, which can make it difficult to use at first.
However, its lightness makes the app work quickly and without crashes.
Winner: MLB App – For the most professional and organized interface.
Live Streams: Who Does It Better?
Here is one of the most important points: which app allows you to watch live games?
- MLB App: It offers live broadcasts via MLB.TV, where you can watch all regular season and playoff games. However, most broadcasts require a subscription. The difference is the “Free Game of the Day”, an option that allows you to watch a game at no cost.
- HomeRun Live: It does not have direct live streaming, but it offers quick links to partner services and provides match summaries right after they end. For those who don't want to pay a subscription, it is a reasonable alternative.
Winner: MLB App – Even though most broadcasts require a subscription, the Free Game of the Day is a big plus.
Statistics and News Coverage
Both applications offer a high level of updates, but with important differences:
- MLB App: Features extremely detailed statistics such as pitching performance, team rankings, and advanced metrics. The news is official and comes directly from the league.
- HomeRun Live: It provides more basic statistics, but makes up for it with varied news from multiple sources. Thus, it is an interesting option for those who want different perspectives on what is happening in the MLB.
Winner: Tie – MLB App wins on stats, while HomeRun Live stands out for its diversity of news.
User Experience and Personalization
- MLB App: Allows you to choose a favorite team and receive notifications about games, scores and specific news about it.
- HomeRun Live: It also has this function, but in a slightly more limited way. It is possible to customize the feed, but the notifications can be a bit generic.
Winner: MLB App – For those who want a more personalized experience, this is the best option.
Availability and Price
- MLB App: Available for Android and iOS. It's free to download, but most live streams require a subscription to MLB.TV.
- HomeRun Live: Completely free and also available for Android and iOS. It offers real-time scores, summaries and statistics without charging anything.
Winner: HomeRun Live – For those looking for a free 100% option, this is the best choice.
Final Verdict: Which One to Choose?
If you want to watch MLB games live, the MLB App is the best choice. The “Free Game of the Day” is an interesting feature for those who don’t want to pay a subscription.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a completely free application to follow scores, statistics and news without spending anything, HomeRun Live is an excellent alternative.
My Personal Choice
After testing both, I was left with the MLB App. The baseball-only interface and the ability to watch one free game a day made all the difference for me.
But, if you are looking for a free app and don't mind not watching the games directly, HomeRun Live may be more than enough to keep up with the MLB.
