See how to watch the Champions League with these apps.
If there's one thing I don't like, it's missing a Champions League game. And let's face it, it's not always possible to be in front of the TV at the right time, right?
That's why I went hunting for the best apps to watch live games on your cell phone or tablet.
I tested a few and came to tell you about my experience with two of the best I found: Star+ and the HBO Max.
Star+: The reliable choice for the Champions League
Star+ has been one of my favorites when it comes to the Champions League. As it is part of ESPN, which broadcasts most of the games, the broadcast quality is impeccable.
I've tested it on different connections, both Wi-Fi and 4G, and I've rarely had any problems with crashes.
Of course, if the internet is bad, any app will suffer a little, but overall, the experience is very stable.
What I like about Star+ is that it's not just a sports app.
In addition to the Champions League, it has a catalog full of films, series and other sporting events.
This is a plus point, because it's not the kind of subscription you only use on game day.
You can binge-watch a series when there's no football on.
Now, talking about the price: it's not the cheapest, but if you subscribe to the combo with Disney+, the cost-benefit improves a lot.
I, for example, subscribe to the combo and I feel it's worth it, because I end up using it a lot.
HBO Max: The good surprise
I confess that it took me a while to give HBO Max a chance to watch the Champions League, but after I tried it, I really liked it.
Warner bought broadcasting rights to the competition and has been doing a good job with coverage.
The streaming is of high quality, and the app's interface is very intuitive, which makes it easier to find games.
One thing I like about HBO Max is that they offer a slightly different experience than ESPN.
While ESPN has that more traditional style of broadcasting, on HBO Max, it seems like they're trying to bring a little more informality and entertainment.
Sometimes there are different analyses, and the narrators are very lively.
The biggest difference with HBO Max, in my opinion, is the price.
Compared to Star+, it tends to be a little cheaper, so for those who want to spend less and still have access to good coverage of the Champions League, it can be a great option.
Comparison: Which is more worthwhile?
Now, if I had to choose just one, which one would it be? Well, it depends on what you're looking for.
- If you want an app that offers not only the Champions League, but also other sports and a huge catalog of films and series, Star+ is the best choice.
- If your focus is just on the Champions League and you want to save a little, HBO Max delivers a great experience for a lower price.
Personally, I like having both, because each has its advantages. But if I had to choose just one, I think I would go with Star+, precisely because of this greater variety of content.
Have you tried any of these? Or do you have another favorite app to watch the Champions League? Tell me!
