I decided to investigate and better understand how to find out if my account was being accessed by someone else.

And now, I'm going to share everything I've learned so you can protect yourself too.

Signs Someone Might Be Spying on Your WhatsApp

If you initially suspect that something is wrong, keep an eye out for these signs:

Battery draining too fast

Is your cell phone getting very hot and the battery drains quickly for no reason?

So, it could be that a spy app is running in the background.

Strange WhatsApp notifications

If you received verification codes without having requested them, be alert!

This could be a sign that someone has tried to access your account.

Messages read without you opening them

Have you ever noticed that some messages appear as read without you having touched them?

This could indicate that someone else is accessing your account.

Unknown devices on WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp Web is very useful, but it can also be a gateway for attackers.

If there are connections you don't recognize, turn on the alert!

How to Know if Someone is Spying on Your WhatsApp?

After noticing these strange signs, I went straight to checking WhatsApp Web, because this is one of the easiest ways for someone to access your messages without having to pick up your phone.

Want to check for suspicious access? Do it now:

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings (or “Settings” on iPhone).

Tap Connected Devices.

See if there are any active connections that you don't recognize.

But if you find something suspicious? Tap “Disconnect from all devices” immediately!

Because this will stop any unauthorized access to your WhatsApp.

Checking Suspicious Applications

Another thing that can happen is someone installing a spy app on your cell phone without you knowing.

These apps are hidden and can copy all your messages. To check this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Your mobile phone settings.
  2. Access Applications or Application Manager.
  3. Look for unfamiliar apps or apps you don't remember installing.
  4. If you find anything suspicious, uninstall it immediately.

In my case, I didn't find any strange apps, but I kept investigating.

3. How to Protect My WhatsApp from Spying?

After all this investigation, I realized that even if my WhatsApp wasn't being monitored, I needed to increase my security.

And that goes for everyone! So, here are some tips to protect your WhatsApp:

Enable Two-Step Verification

This prevents anyone else from accessing your account without authorization. To enable it:

  1. Go to WhatsApp Settings.
  2. Tap on Account and then in Two-step verification.
  3. Activate and create a security PIN.

Never Share Your Verification Code

If someone asks you to send them a six-digit code that arrived on your cell phone, DO NOT SEND IT! This is a scam.

Use a Screen Lock on WhatsApp

Now, you can set up a password, fingerprint or facial recognition to open WhatsApp.

This prevents anyone from tampering with your messages without your permission.

Beware of Suspicious Links

Many hackers use malicious links to steal your data. If you receive a strange link, do not click on it! Always be suspicious.

Finishing

Ultimately, my WhatsApp wasn't being monitored, but this experience made me much more aware of my digital security.

With so many scam attempts happening every day, it is essential to take steps to protect our information.

Anyway, if you suspect that someone is spying on your WhatsApp, follow the steps I mentioned and protect yourself.

And of course, share this knowledge with friends and family so everyone can use WhatsApp more safely!
